How To: Make A Shea & Sugar Lip Scrub

Maintaining your lips through harsh weather conditions and stress couldn't be any easier (and cheaper) than a simple DIY scrub. We know, it's so hard to resist a beautifully packaged product with a glass jar and pretty lid, however taking care of your pout doesn't have to come at the high price which many premade scrubs do, and below we're going to show you why.

Lip exfoliation is a great way to buff away dead skin cells and reveal lips which are healthy and smooth but what's even better is a great lip scrub is so easy to create and can be done with ingredients which you probably already have in the house.

To find out how to create your own super moisturising and nourishing lip scrub just using three ingredients, check out the following:

What You'll Need:

  • 1 tbsp Caster Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Raw Shea Butter ( You can find this at most afro hair shops, there are also lots)
  • 1 tsp Honey (Use agave to make your scrub vegan)
  • A small pot to store your scrub in (Can be found at most beauty retailers)
  • A small plastic mixing bowl to mix the scrub in

Take the mixing bowl and soften the Shea butter using the back of a spoon

Once the butter is nice and soft add the sugar and honey and mix all ingredients until they are well combined

The consistency should become some what of a buttery but grainy texture

Spoon the scrub into a small pot or lid and that's it! You now have your very own lip scrub. You can keep your scrub in the fridge if your prefer your mix to be firm however, if you like a rich velvet like consistency leaving it at room temperature is perfectly fine

Rich in both vitamin A & E raw Shea butter nourishes the skin without clogging your pores and allows the butter to deeply penetrate your skin soothing and restoring moisture while the sugar works as a natural exfoliant polishing away dry, chapped lips

  • Make your scrubs in small batches to avoid waste
  • Follow up your lip exfoliant with a nice thick lip balm especially just before  bed
